I am an infrequent participant and contributor to an informal group of people interested in various systematic ways of thinking about the future, started by the fine folks at the Institute For The Future.

Ambidextrous Magazine

I occaisionally author articles for the Stanford Institute of Design's publication, Ambidextrous Magazine.

California Motorcycle Safety Program

I am in training to become a RiderCoach (motorcycle instructor) for the Bay Area Motorcycle School.

Black Rock Rangers

I attend the annual Burning Man festival and volunteer some of my time during the year and during the event to put on a white hat and a radio and act as a non-confrontational mediator. I also Ranger at some regional events and help with the training program for the group.

Recent Projects

Wallenberg Hall

My last job was running a research project on high-performance learning spaces for the Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning. This project is more familiarly known as Wallenberg Hall and is globally recognized as a pioneer in use of physical space and technology to support and innovate on learning and working practices.

Summer Institute at Wallenberg Hall

I was Executive Director of this year's Summer Institute, and taught one of the five sessions. My session took place August 9th and 10th and was entitled "New Tools for Qualitative Research".

Stanford / KERIS uClassroom Project

I managed a research project for the Stanford Center for Innovations in Learning. South Korea is prototyping high-tech classrooms for K-12 in a project called "uClassroom" and our team is designing activities for these environments.

Stanford Cardinal Inquirer

In 2007, the Graduate Program in Journalism began to revamp its student publication, the Cardinal Inquirer. I helped design and plan the courses, assisted the instructors and students, and contributed to the redesign of the paper as a member of the teaching staff.
